The Educational Technology Center (ETC) will add a web presence and web-enhanced mode of course delivery in the DLSU-D Schoolbook guidelines this second semester once the proposal is approved by the academic council.
ETC Coordinator Arlynne Awayan said that the proposal policy will include web-enhanced online classes which will redesign an online learning 'experience and harmonize it with classroom activities. In this mode, the online activity is part of the course lesson and the faculty will design web features like discussion forums and web quest where students will access different website to learn more about their lesson. she said that although e-class will be conducted once a week, their use will still depend on the department chair and subject coordinators.
On the other hand, if an e-class is in a web presence mode, the Schoolbook will serve as an online extension of classroom lectures and resources. In this mode, the faculty members can use the Schoolbook to simply give information about their lessons in the classroom. In this approach, faculty members who handle a three-unit subject can give alternative activities online maximum of six hours per section within a semester.
Through the web presence mode, student and faculty members can interact while utilizing the Schoolbook. "Ang target namin, lahat ng classes dapat naka-web presence. Meaning may e-class sila whether or not once a week nagmi-meet."
Under development
There is also a concern from students regarding the online quiz feature of the Schoolbook. The ETC provides some adjustments by giving students two to three days to take their online quizzes and two to three attempts to answer each activity.
On the other hand, to further address the faculty members' concern on the use of the schoolbook, they offer training programs and orientation on designing the "learning experience of their (faculty's) students."
